The Odyssey G7 series also includes a 27″ sized variant, the Samsung C27G75T, with the same specifications. It offers a higher pixel density, whereas the 32″ model offers a more immersive gaming experience due to the bigger screen. The monitor is based on Samsung’s VA panel and features a QDEF layer (also referred to as ‘QLED’) for improved colors and stronger brightness. Within the System menu you can configure the RGB lighting to front and back, back only or off altogether.
Do not turn your TV off during the update process. The TV must remain powered on until the update is complete. The TV will turn off and on automatically after completing the software update, which reboots the TV.

- And these were sustained even with decent chunks of bright content on the screen.
- This setting also decodes the so-called secondary audio elements, such as PIP commentaries and menu sounds, and mixes them with the primary soundtrack.
- The maximum screen luminance detected was 416 cd/m2 and with HDR turned on in Windows it was slightly higher at 423.1 cd/m2.
- The device was very dirty so before I began, I removed the dead batteries from the remote control and cleaned the remote and the player.
This monitor works fine with recent MacBooks for the most part, but there are some issues with the gaming features. VRR flickers at lower framerates, but HDR doesn’t work unless you set the Refresh Rate setting on the monitor to “120”, so it’s not possible to use HDR and VRR at the same time. On the other hand, there are no issues putting the computer to sleep or closing the lid. The Samsung G70A has an IPS panel with a low native contrast ratio. The local dimming feature doesn’t do much to improve it because our checkerboard pattern turns all the zones on. Also, the local dimming locks the brightness at its max, while we normally measure the contrast at 100 nits.

There’s judder in all other modes, including ‘Standard’, but you can reduce it by setting Picture Clarity to ‘Custom’, with both sliders set to ‘0’. The Samsung S95B displays 720p content, including most cable TV channels well, with no noticeable artifacts. Finally, we measured the accuracy out of the box using Samsung’s default BT.1886 gamma setting. It performs a bit worse overall relative to the calibration targets we chose, but some people prefer BT.1886 over a flat 2.2 or 2.4 gamma curve. The Samsung S95B has superb accuracy in SDR out of the box. Gamma is close to the 2.2 target for a dark room, but some scenes are a bit too bright.

(A workaround cited is switching the BR player to output PCM vs Bitstream.) Many reports from Oppo owners as well as Sony and perhaps other models/brands. I suspect it might be related to another spin on DRM and may require yet another firmware update to players . Some are calling for the studio to exchange/replace discs (w/fix) but I doubt that will happen. Since it’s not a universal issue with all players, I suspect it’s player related (firmware/chipset, lack of seamless branching support). I would only try this in dire cases as it may not work with all models/all previous firmware versions. The physical act of upgrading a Blu-ray player that’s outdated isn’t difficult at all.
I got it on sale, which i highly recommend waiting for one, full price is a little steep, although you won’t be disappointed. Bright, sharp, fast, tunable, and looks fantastic. I bought the 27″ and won’t ever look back. awesome product samsung. full disclosure, i bought the g7 t1 faker version just because it was cheaper. However 1) its had a stuck pixel since day one, which customer service told me “do not worry this is normal. Contact us again if more stuck pixels show up” ummm, no. at this price point, there shouldn’t be any.
If you’re particularly sensitive to flickering but less so stuttering and don’t mind the increase in input lag then this setting may be of use. But for us it detracts from the purpose of VRR technology with the stuttering that occurs and we prefer to keep ‘VRR Control’ disabled. Dynamic ‘interlace pattern artifacts’ were also observed. To the eye it was as if the dithered pattern at 60Hz appeared to shift if you moved your eyes or observed moving content on the screen. It could be described as an interference pattern, grid or mesh.
